The Excavation of Hob’s Barrow

The antiquarian Thomasina Bateman is writing a book on the barrows that are found in England in which she documents the treasures she finds buried within. A fascinating letter prompts her to visit the tiny village of Bewlay in remote rural England. She travels there by train, along with her assistant on the following day.
When she arrives, however, the mysterious man who called her has not yet be located. Her assistant never arrives. The landowner is obnoxious and denies access to the barrow. People in the area fear her and she travels on her own. wears trousers.
